You Should Be Watching: DIY Network’s Man Caves

Don’t know what a man cave is?

“A part of a home specifically reserved for adult male
activities, such as drinking beer and watching TV; often a garage or den.”

Oh, it sounds so simple. Yet the folks over at DIY Network have raised the man cave concept to new heights.

This dynamic team has the amazing ability to turn dingy basements and attics filled with old junk into phenomenal bachelor
havens that would actually make any wife proud. That’s why we, along with
millions of others, tune in every week to watch DIY Network’s hit show, Man Caves.
Even though I personally am not a man, I have found myself green with envy over
the gorgeous designs their team executes every time.

They leave no detail unattended to. Past episodes have included
the turning of an old basement into a< Boston Celtics-style wetbar, complete with parquet flooring.

An old basement became a
custom, in-home boxing gym, complete with interlocking gym flooring and hanging
bags. What man wouldn’t cry at the sight of such a room?

Man Caves is currently in its third season, and has provided custom “manctuaries” to the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rainn Wilson, Gary Del’Abate, and AJ Calloway. Yet not only celebrities get the celebrity treatment. Each man cave is given the same unbelievable attention to detail, and each one is more unique than the last. One episode sent hosts Jason Cameron and former NFL defensive lineman Tony Siragusa all the way to Camp Virginia in northern Kuwait to build our heroes overseas a tent they
could call home. This “tent” included a fully built-out game room with
flat-screen TV’s and gaming consoles, reading rooms where soldiers can tape
themselves reading stories to their children, and plenty of computer and pod
stations for keeping touch with family and friends back home.
