• Choose cordless products-  Government safety officials and the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) recommend that only cordless window coverings be used in homes with young children. It is easy to make the switch to cordless economically and without altering your interior design. A wide variety of cordless window coverings are available for all types of budgets and decorating schemes.
• Move furniture and toys away from window cords- These items could unintentionally serve as “hidden stepstools” to help a small child reach a window or cord. Cribs and beds should also be moved away from window areas so that children cannot reach up and grab cords.
• Regularly check your window treatments for safety- Cords on existing window treatments can be secured out of reach with cord cleats. You can order free retrofit kits from the Window Covering Safety Council that are custom designed to make many different window coverings safer for kids.
