It makes me sad to think that summer is coming to a close. Warm breezes, bare feet and backyard picnics will soon give way to the things of fall. During the last few weeks of sunny skies let’s bid summer farewell with a final hurrah.
Plan some outdoor summer activities to finish the season with a bang!
1. While the weather still allows, grab some friends for one last picnic with sunshine above and grass below. Pink Pistachio’s picks for outdoor dining sets make me want to pack a picnic basket and curl up with a good book. The picnic food menu she provides has grilled sandwiches, quinoa salad, raspberry fruit dip and vegan chocolate cake. It sounds absolutely delectable!
2. One summer tradition that I know I’ll miss is drive in movies. Many of you may have seen pins like this before about how to create a backyard movie theater. While you may not be able to recreate the sumptuous decor, (seriously who has time to hang five lamps outside!) you can get the drive in movie feel by hooking up your iPad to the 3M Pocket Projector.
3. Show guests a new side of your home by hosting an outdoor summer meal in the backyard instead of in your dining room. Assemble guests on the patio, or allow them to wiggle their toes in the grass by placing patio furniture in the middle of your backyard. Apartment Therapy is a must-follow on Pinterest and their recent blog post on Whimsical Outdoor Dining will give you inspiration for creating a new cookout space.
4. Soak in the last of summer with the windows down and the perfect playlist of summer songs. If your radio’s tired of Call Me Maybe and Gotye, take a listen to this summer playlist from State of Unique as the season fades out.
