B Design Inspiration, Home Decor

Ever come across a home design blog that is just so breathtaking you instantly want every room pictured? I can’t lie, that happened to me when I saw livelaughdecorate.com. The blog is run by Nicole and Debbie of Nicole White Designs who are self proclaimed “design-crazed divas”. They post examples of clients’ homes and design advice for how to work trends into your own decor.  The best part though has to be the E-Design service. You send pictures of your room and they send you back a design board, complete shopping guide/source list for items selected and budget overview. It really couldn’t be any easier. Our Favorite Designs: I am absolutely in love this bedroom’s color scheme. The black and white with not…

Easy DIY Labor Day Craft How to

With a much needed three day weekend approaching, what could be a better reason to make decorations? This Labor Day use some things laying around the house for an easy DIY centerpiece. This fun DIY comes from mamiejanes.blogspot.com. She made it after realizing she didn’t have anything vintage to bring to a party. She got this done with just enough time to spare, and you can too. There are two different ways to do this project.  One way is to paint an old shutter, which will ensure that end product will look exactly the way you want. The other way is to wrap a flag around the shutter and tucking the ends in as not to cut the flag. If…

Color Crush: Deep Teal

We love the look of dark walls, but taking this dramatic plunge has been a bit to intimidating for us. If you want to step out of your design comfort zone, but not quite that far, try our new favorite hue, deep teal. This rich color is dark and high-contrast, but not quite as cold and moody as wall-to-wall black. Deep teal is vibrant, but not over powering, and somehow makes everything feel more cozy. Here are a few of our favorite ideas for decorating with deep teal. Cozy Blue Bedrooms The jewel-like hue has a bit of an Edwardian feel, so these ornate furnishings fit right in. Via Decoist. Deep teal walls were made for bright, contrasting accents like like…

18 Ways to Decorate with Hanging Branches

Hanging branches, how we love thee. Let us count the ways. We first saw this look in a bedroom featured on Emily Henderson’s blog, and wondered how we had never thought of it before! It’s simple, inexpensive and crazy versatile. In summer it’ll look like beachy driftwood, in winter like a bare frosty limb. The best thing about this project? At most all you’ll have to do is trim some twigs and tie on string. Go for the spray paint if you’re feeling really crazy. All this being said, hanging branches are the perfect look for the summer-to-fall transition time. Give it a try! In The Bedroom Break up a simple mirror with a branchy topper. Via Emily Henderson. This project will require…

Should I Choose Patterned or Solid Roman Shades?

Coke or Pepsi? Dogs or cats? Stripes or spots? Life is full of choices, some more important than others, but they all have to be made. While flipping through House Beautiful, we found ourselves wondering when and where to use solid or printed roman shades? A solid shade in a bold color can liven up a room, while a faint floral pattern softens windows. The question is what is, what’s right for your home? Perfectly Printed: The first room is cozy and comfortable. The printed roman shades in a pale green match the plants and seating while bringing a trendy vibe to the room. We also love the idea of matching treatments across the room, like the draperies and roman shades…
