Nursery Decor Fit For Royalty – Will and Kate’s Style For The New Heir

As the world welcomes his Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, Sources close to the royal couple say that Will and Kate, “have a small nursery prepped, but it’s humble.”

Whether royally extravagant, or as affordable as some of Kate’s fashion choices, the nursery style is sure to make waves in the baby decor for decades.

A Neutral Face

Before the royal birth, the couple kept tight lips about the gender of the baby, and although Kate purchased a light blue Bugaboo stroller, the nursery is said to be decorated in a mix of neutral colors.

The suite above is a recently remodeled room in London’s Grosvenor House. Lush draperies, a four poster bed and crib canopy give traditional elegance, while modern tailoring brings the look up to date. What could be more peaceful than pastel yellow, soft grey and mossy green?

A neutral palette is a great choice for couples who are waiting to find out the gender, but it also provides a calming atmosphere for both parents and little ones. In the space above, richness comes in through lush textures like faux fur, leather and bamboo window shades.

Kate has been spotted popping in and out of antique stores shopping for the nursery. We love the way this antique cabinet warms up a soft nursery. Plus, what could be cuter than the framed socks perched on top?

Kate was also sighted buying a wicker ‘moses basket’.  These woven bassinets add texture to nursery decor and many come equipped with handles for easy transport.

Blue for a Prince… or Princess!

As a subtle nod to the tot’s future as a monarch, royal blue would be a beautiful accent color. Soft neutrals make it perfect for a boy’s room while pale yellow suits a girl.

Textiles offer a wonderful chance to mix up a look with pattern. We love this contemporary baby bedding in royal blue.
