Hello again readers! It’s Phoebe the summer marketing intern here at Blinds.com. If you’re about to leave for college, or know someone who is, throw a dorm wall art painting party as a fun and memorable way to say goodbye to high school friends.
I graduated high school last spring (2015) and then jetted off to Europe for my first year of college. A few weeks before my friends and I went our own separate ways, I gathered them all around the dining room table, handed them a small canvas, supplied them with paint, and told them to get creative. When the night was over we swapped canvases to hang in our dorm rooms as a way to remember each other.
Even though not all of my friends consider themselves to be artists they were easily able to come up with something to paint. These 6 small canvases became my favorite pieces of dorm decor. Not only did it remind me of my best friends every time I looked at them, they were also conversation starters with new friends who came to hang out in my room.
What you will need:
- small canvases (the exact size is your preference)
- paint
- paint brushes
- a few awesome friends!
Step 1:
Set up a space with all of your supplies, and of course good snacks!
Step 2:
Give your friends no direction, just let them paint whatever they want. This way their creation will be much more personal and representative of them.
Step 3:
Create an eclectic gallery wall wherever you like! These teeny canvases should be light enough to hang with a few command strips. No holes in the wall means you get your deposit back at the end of the year!
I know that you and your friends will enjoy this fun DIY as much as we did. Here’s to crafting, college, and friendships!
