Most likely at some point in your college life you will be living with a roommate or sharing a space. Now we’re not going to get into the social aspects of dorm life or share crazy roommate stories (as many as there are), but I do want to introduce you to a decor technique that will work in virtually any living space.
It’s all about neutrals.
A neutral room is the perfect solution to sharing a space and making it work. It is interchangeable, classy, and all of the people in the dorm can decorate their way while still looking in theme. If you set yourself up with neutral dorm decor it will last you through your entire college career. Decorating a dorm room in neutrals is simple and we’re here to show you just how to do it!
Choose bedding.
The variations of neutral bedding are endless, but the bedspread is the best starting point when decorating a room.
Accessorize away!
Have fun choosing a variety decorations such as funky candle sticks, pleasing lamps, and crazy photo collages with you and your friends.
Color and Texture
One of the perks of a neutral dorm room is that you don’t have to be shy with color and texture! Jazz up your room with cozy fur rugs, chevron pillows, and more!

Pop of Color
Neutrals don’t have to be boring! You can always brighten the room up with some pops of color. This is great for roommates because you can each have your own color pop making your side of the room recognizable while still flowing with your roommate.
Neutral Dorm Room Fun!
With a neutral color palette you will never get bored with your dorm room (sounds kinda odd, but it’s true)! This is because your decor will always be interchangeable. If you find a new headboard or feel inspired to create an art piece it will fit right in with your room. The options are endless! A neutral dorm room is exciting to decorate, but simple to put together, and perfect to share!
