Color Crush: Deep Teal

We love the look of dark walls, but taking this dramatic plunge has been a bit to intimidating for us. If you want to step out of your design comfort zone, but not quite that far, try our new favorite hue, deep teal.

Color Crush: Deep Teal

This rich color is dark and high-contrast, but not quite as cold and moody as wall-to-wall black. Deep teal is vibrant, but not over powering, and somehow makes everything feel more cozy.

Here are a few of our favorite ideas for decorating with deep teal.

Cozy Blue Bedrooms

The jewel-like hue has a bit of an Edwardian feel, so these ornate furnishings fit right in.

Deep teal walls were made for bright, contrasting accents like like lime green, yellow and red.

We love teal and green for a boy’s nursery. The white trim looks so crisp against dark walls.

Deep Blue Kitchen

Teal gives just as much dramatic flair in the kitchen. The unassuming wood countertops would blend in in a neutral kitchen, but the high contrast palette really brings out the grains.

Not ready to go teal all over? Try it on the ceiling as a fun accent.

A blanket coating on walls, window frames and beams makes the industrial accents in this kitchen stand out.

Blue-Green-y Love for the Living Room

Teal walls tone down the cheese factor of this leopard print rug and make it feel high style.

As we’ve well established, teal makes white pop like no other. Paint the back of built-ins to make shelves and accessories stand out.

One thing we’ve learned in our full teal immersion? Teal loves velvet. Check out the ultra-saturated color on this couch!

More Spaces to Embrace the Teal

This is the photo that started it all for us. Our blogger friends at Yellow Brick Home didn’t know what to do with a strange nook off their living room, so they painted it Blue Fir and nestled their record player and albums right in.

They also painted their coat closet door a deeper shade of teal and we LOVE it. Do these guys have a genius eye for paint colors or what? Check out the teal +mint combo here!

Teal is fab for a front door as well. The color pairing here with the purple cabbage is beautiful.
