4 Patriotic Rooms That Would Make the Founding Fathers Proud

Eclectic Bedroom by New York Photographers Rikki Snyder

With the 4th of July just a day away, we’re excited to share these 4 patriotic rooms that showcase style in the USA! Most of us would never have thought to use a vintage American flag as a wall accent, but boy does it work! The bright colors really make the room pop and bring out the red in the tribal pattern bedding. To match the room’s vintage feel, we’d pair the windows with Bali’s Northern Heights 2″ Wood Blinds, equipped with tape cloths for a retro look. The American flag wall art gives this room a unique edge – it brings color to the space while adding personality. To accentuate the contemporary-modern style, we’d add the Mirrored Vertical Blinds…

Introducing our Summer Intern Rachel: Her Thoughts on Blinds.com

r July 2, 2013 | B Blinds.com Culture

Maybe you’ve already read some of my posts or maybe you’re meeting me for the first time! Either way, I wanted to talk about my experience thus far at Blinds.com and share a little about myself: Now that I’ve interned with Blinds.com for about a month, I’ve gained a lot of insight to how the company runs. Before I was offered the job, I had done a little research – I knew that Blinds.com had won ‘Marketer of the Year’ and ‘Best Place to Work in Houston’. I knew that it was a successful company and was supposed to be a fun place to work – but I had no idea to what extent. The first time that I walked…

Let’s Get Nautical: 4 Beachside Rooms to Behold

With the summer sun kicking into full gear, it’s hard not to dream of a beachside getaway. Many of you may be lucky enough to own a seaside home or might be diving into the waves on vacation, but for those of us enduring the heat – we can “sail away” too with this nautical decor. Here’s our 4 Favorite Nautical Rooms from Houzz: The Captain’s Quarters This bedroom is fit for a sailor! I can’t begin to describe how much I would have enjoyed a room like this as a kid. To keep with the nautical theme, I paired the ocean-blue roller shade by Laura Ashley with the windows. The picture shows it in Navy, but these colors would…

4 Man Caves Dad Would Love for Father’s Day

With Father’s Day approaching, why not post about something our Dads can enjoy too? These Man Caves we found on Houzz would inspire any man to renovate his home. Here’s a Few of Our Favorites: This definition of a Man Cave is quite literal. This Batman-themed media room would be a favorite for any Batman aficionado or movie-lover. Blackout shades are a MUST in a TV-watching room like this. Just like Batman, your Dad needs some high-tech gadgets in his Bat Cave like the Motorized Cellular Shades that he can control with the push of a button. This room may be a Man Cave, but it sure has style. The elegant flooring and rich hues create a stunning look. Any guy would…

In Blog Love with Young House Love

We’ve Got a Blog Crush… Young House Love is a blog by a DIY couple, Sherry and John, who have transformed their home one step at a time while on a budget. After four and a half years of dedicated renovation they have moved – and are going to start the design process all over again. They are beautifying the world one house at a time. Here’s a Peek at Some of Our Favorite Posts: Don’t worry, no butterflies were harmed in the making of this artwork. Much as they come to life, these faux-butterflies were made from a print-out. In a shadowbox, they create a sophisticated yet whimsical piece of art. They look so realistic they could fool just…

Houzz into Home: Interior Design Trends You’ve Got to See

While browsing one of our newest favorite sites, Houzz, we came across 4 stunning spaces that we just couldn’t do without so we decided to share them with you. Happy Inspirational Wednesday! This room scene is the perfect marriage between contemporary and country ‘chic’. The antique details add a cozy feel without overpowering the room and sending it into a past decade. The wood accents on the ceiling and doors would pair beautifully with our 2 1/2″ Shutter Style Wood Blinds, adding a touch of warmth to the windows. This beautiful dining room evokes the natural beauty of the outdoors and brings it inside. The warm wood dining table, floral centerpiece, and pale green paint color all help develop the…

Playing in the Sand at the AIA Sandcastle Competition

r June 4, 2013 | B Blinds.com Culture

Now imagine that this gathering takes place on the beach and that all of the firms are competing – for who can build the best sandcastle. It’s not your everyday business convention. Lucky for us this is a real event; the AIA Sandcastle Competition happens every year at East Beach in Galveston, TX. Rachel, the new Marketing & Social Media intern was fortunate enough to get an inside look at the competition and help build with the firm PDG Architects. She was so excited about her day at the beach that she wanted to share her experience with the Blinds.com community: I had no idea that sandcastle-construction could be so complex….
