Heimtextil, the largest trade fair for interior textiles in the world, takes place each January in Frankfurt, Germany.  This is where interior designers, architects and retail buyers go to source new fabrics and spot emerging design trends. Each year, a group of prominent visionaries are chosen to identify the key themes for the upcoming season, and are given the freedom to design museum-quality, visually stimulating exhibits to show products that can be found at the trade fair that support their findings.  Their deliverables also include a 45 minute presentation and a book. This year’s exhibit was spectacular, as usual! Kate Franklin and Caroline Till from the FranklinTill Design Consultancy were responsible for developing the vision for the Trend Forum 2014. …

Fantasy Windows on Display at The International Window Coverings Expo in New Orleans

The International Window Coverings Expo, an annual industry event, took place last week  in New Orleans.  Industry executives, suppliers, designers and retailers from around the world were in attendance.  New products were on display, and experts presented seminars. One of the highlights was the showcase sponsored by the Custom Home Furnishings Academy, where professionals were challenged to design a vignette with none of the real-world constraints such as cost, existing décor, or client preferences… they were even able to sketch their own window!   Take a look at the fantasy window treatments that these creative pros dreamed up when they were told “anything goes”:   Left:  “Black Swan” by Debra Martin of Debra Martin Designs and Sheri Stouffer of Finishing…

Blu Homes Builds Green in Joshua Tree, CA

Blu Homes recently hosted a one-day open house at their brand new prefab home constructed in Joshua Tree, CA.  This home tour was offered in conjunction with Modernism Week, an 11-day annual event in Palm Springs.  Of course, we were in attendance!   Built as a vacation home for Tim Disney (great nephew of Walt and Blu Homes board member) and his wife Neda, it offers a stunning silhouette, nestled among the boulder outcroppings of Joshua Tree National Park.  The exterior features large picture windows, corrugated metal siding and sliding wood panels.   The home is constructed from two factory-built Origin modules  that include bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and dining areas,  connected by a site-built center living area that also serves…

Global design inspiration for your home decor! Hong Kong is a beautiful, modern city with a lot of history featuring mountains, water and varied architecture to awe and inspire.
