A Look Back at 2010 & How We Reached Our One MILLIONTH Customer

Over the weekend, Blinds.com celebrated a major milestone: we reached 1,000,000 customers. Since 1994, Blinds.com has been providing people with quality window decor on the internet. In fact, CEO Jay Steinfeld was the first to sell blinds and shades online, taking on the major catalogers and big box stores. His little experiment soon surpassed all expectations, and through an insane amount of hard work, Blinds.com has become the #1 provider of window treatments on the internet.

Pretty amazing, huh?

It’s fitting that we reached this milestone at the end of 2010, an overall great year for the organization. This year alone, Blinds.com was awarded National Best in Class Call Center of the Year, AMA Marketer of the Year, one of the Best Places to Work in Houston (awards given to the company by both the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Business Journal), the Internet Retailer Hot 100, #1 e-commerce company in Houston, and more. And what’s even more exciting is that we had a very profitable year, in spite of a terrible economy and a down housing marketing.

In other words, we hired people. A lot of people, providing much-needed employment at a time when jobs are hard to come by. Good jobs are even more scarce.

Our corporate culture came of age. We’ve developed a reputation as being an incredibley fun and innovative place to come to work every day. Our core values, Experiment Without Fear, Improve Continuously, and Wow Every Customer, aren’t just a bunch of BS hanging on the wall (though they are hung on the walls!). They’re real values, values that we live and breathe, starting from the top down. No matter what department you work in, you are important, and the company cannot run without you. Every employee knows that.

So are we excited that we’ve helped 1 million families with their window treatments?

Darn right we are.
